Hello Blogger
Well.. I stopped using MySpace a while ago, but I decided I wanted to continue blogging. It helps me think through things.
A lot has happened since I stopped blogging, so I’m going to try to cover it semi-chronologically.
Location
Well, I moved to Nashville. No more Cookeville for me, and I’m glad for it. Definitely a dead-end town, and I don’t want to be stuck in a dead-end.
That being said, Nashville is not my last stop in this world. It’s just a place for me to get on my feet. Before it’s all said and done I’d like to be near a coast.. with a decent job, plenty of alcohol, a few friends and lots of seafood.
All things in time I suppose.
Work
I have a job now! Go me! I work for a local merchandising label called Zambooie. I do the significant portion of their in-house web design along with many other things, including:
- PHP 4 / 5 OOP
- MySQL
- WebDNA
- WebCatalog
- Mac OS X Server Administration
- Unix Server Administration
- XML
- HTML/CSS/Javascript
- many more..
I’m currently working on Fedex shipping integration, a screenprinting management system and uploads systems.
Computing
I traded in my G5 for a 17″ Macbook Pro.. after having gotten a job I don’t work much from home any more, and I don’t do much independent or freelance web design. In the end I think it was a good decision, I’m enjoying my laptop thorougly and I’ve finally made the necessary switch to an Intel Mac. Here’s the stats on my new laptop:
- 2.16gHz Intel Core Duo (2 cores)
- 2GB DDR2 SDRAM 667mHz
- 120GB 5400rpm SATA HD
- ATI Radeon X1600 Mobility Edition 256MB GDDR3
- 17″ Widescreen Display
Home Theater
One of the things I’ve been looking forward to doing since getting a job is filling out my home entertainment system. Since coming to Nashville I’ve picked up a lot of things:
- Two Event ASP8 studio monitors (glorious)
- Harmon Kardon Receiver
- Sony DVD Player
- Monster Power Conditioner
- Comcast Cable on Demand
- Nintendo Wii
- 6 Virtual Console games
- 6 Wii Games
- Playstation 2 and 3 games
- A wood entertainment center
Well that pretty well covers what I wanted to get out there today. Sorry for all the lists, I felt like doing a little mental inventory.
